Yip Hern (Derrick) Chow has a deep entrepreneurial drive and global tech exposure. Through the CIEE Global Internship program, he spent a year in San Francisco working at Clerkie, a Series A fintech startup, where he led full-stack development and built AI-powered engineering tools for large-scale debt recovery platforms.  

During his time in the U.S., Derrick actively immersed himself in the startup ecosystem, including participating in an AI hackathon in San Francisco where his team placed as 2nd runner-up for building a compliance automation agent using cutting-edge GenAI tools.  
 

His experience extended beyond engineering: he embraced cultural exchanges, collaborative teamwork across borders, and the pace of Silicon Valley innovation.


Derrick is also the founder of Tech Composition, a tech media platform partnering with companies like Google and Samsung. Across roles in Vietnam, Singapore, and the U.S., he remains passionate about building software and ventures that bridge ideas across continents.
