Check out his story

I started as a Host at Play at The Broadmoor in Colorado, a fun, high-energy spot with bowling lanes, games, and retro-American casual dining. Greeting guests, managing reservations, and keeping the vibe lively helped me build strong customer service skills right away. Now, I’m working as a Server at The Golden Bee, an authentic 19th-century English pub (shipped panel by panel from the UK!) famous for its hearty gastropub menu, live ragtime piano, and friendly British charm. Serving classic fish & chips, burgers, and pints while chatting with international guests has been amazing for improving my English and confidence.

On top of that, I’ve had the chance to pickup shifts at other amazing venues: Café Julie’s (the Parisian patisserie with fresh pastries, gelato, and chocolates), La Taverne (legendary steakhouse with prime cuts and seafood), Room Service (handling in-room dining for luxury guests), and Banquet events (supporting large private parties and functions). Each spot teaches something new – from fine dining etiquette to fast-paced teamwork during busy seasons.

This experience has been truly life-changing! I’ve learned so much about American hospitality in a world-class resort, gained real-world skills in high-end service, and grown more independent and resilient. Living in Colorado Springs, I’ve enjoyed skiing in the Rockies, hanging out with fellow interns (bowling at Play, late-night milkshakes, pool nights), and exploring the beautiful mountains. Most importantly, I’ve saved money to support my family back home, including sending funds to my aunt in Kentucky – it feels great to give back.

There were challenges like long shifts, homesickness, and adapting to fast-paced environments, but overcoming them made me stronger. I highly recommend this program to Vietnamese students: be open-minded, work hard, embrace every opportunity, and you’ll come back with unforgettable memories and a boosted CV!

Thank you so much to Speedwing and CIEE for this incredible chance. I’m proud to be an alumnus and excited to share my story to inspire others.
